About Anat Zion Ankri

Where My Story Begins

For me, food has never been only about what is served on a plate. It carries voices, places, and moments I never want my family to lose. I’m Anat Zion Ankri, author of One Family Three Cuisines, a heritage cookbook shaped by Polish, Iraqi, and Tunisian Jewish traditions. I grew up surrounded by recipes that held far more than instructions; they carried courage, belonging, and family history. That is why I began gathering stories as carefully as ingredients. Every page invites readers into kitchens where memory feels alive, and where one aroma can bring generations closer again.

Recipes With Roots, Not Just Instructions

Cooking has always been one of the ways I understand family. I love the scents of rising dough, simmering spices, and a table filling with people I care about. As I created this cookbook, I interviewed elders, cooked beside relatives, and traced the stories behind dishes that might otherwise disappear. That process made My Legacy of Love different from a recipe collection. I wanted the food to remain practical, but I also wanted readers to know whose hands shaped it and why it mattered. This blend of culinary history, storytelling, and recipes gives the heritage cookbook genre a personal voice.

What Will Your Table Remember?

What makes a recipe worth saving? Is it the taste, the person who taught it to us, or the memory that returns with the first bite? Those questions stayed with me while I wrote this book. I wanted to preserve more than measurements. I wanted to protect the small details that explain who we are and where we came from. If you enjoy family history, Jewish food traditions, or recipes with stories behind them, I hope these pages feel personal to you. My wish is simple: cook something meaningful, ask your family questions, and keep one more story from disappearing.
