About Anat Zion Ankri

I grew up believing a kitchen could hold more than food. For me, it has always held voices, habits, stories, and the familiar feeling of coming home. I come from a family shaped by different cultures that eventually met in Israel, and cooking became one of the clearest ways I could understand that inheritance.

Over time, I realized many treasured recipes survived only in memory, handwritten notes, or the practiced hands of the women who made them. I did not want those details to disappear. So I began listening more closely, asking questions, cooking beside my elders, and gathering the stories behind the dishes.

That process brought me closer to my family and showed me that a recipe can preserve far more than flavour. It can carry resilience, humour, identity, and love. I wrote One Family Three Cusines to give those memories a lasting home, and to invite readers to notice the stories waiting inside their own kitchens too, today.

About Anat's Book

One Family Three Cusines

One Family Three Cusines is a heritage cookbook where recipes arrive with the people who carried them. Family history, migration, memory, and food share each page, turning familiar dishes into windows onto lives shaped across generations, cultures, hardship, and home.

Rather than separating instruction from emotion, One Family Three Cusines lets each dish keep its story. Polish, Iraqi, Tunisian, and Israeli influences meet naturally, showing how traditions travel, adapt, and preserve the comforting taste of belonging.

Readers will find more than meals to prepare. They will encounter family rituals, inherited techniques, moments of survival, and everyday acts of care that explain why certain flavours matter and why preserving them can feel deeply personal.

That gives the book its lasting appeal. It guides readers toward dishes they can cook while inviting them to reflect on memory, identity, and family connection. For anyone who values culture, meaningful cooking, and stories passed through generations, every chapter offers another reason to linger at the table together.
